The Ordinary is brought to you by the culinary masters from FIG,

and The Ordinary is, according the restaurant’s website,

a place for fancy seafood, an oyster hall, a tavern,

and a meeting place, all rolled into one

on Upper King Street.

Created inside of a 1920s bank building, where the bank’s vault is in sight and in use as part of the kitchen, their menu celebrates the “merroir” of the Coastal Carolinas and the East Coast, and they strive to support local and regional fishermen, crabbers, oystermen, farmers and producers.

Like FIG, their approach is recognizable: they aim to pair great food with great drink and friendly, detailed service. At The Ordinary, they do so against the backdrop of an historical Charleston building that has been transformed into a high energy, bustling American brasserie.

Happy Hour Oysters are only $1.50 a piece Tuesday through Friday, 5pm-6:30pm.  Like its sister FIG, the Ordinary can book up early and fast, but also like FIG, you can usually snag a bar seat and watch the raw seafood towers being built while waiting for your cocktail.
